Someone has pointed out to me that I have a blog, and that I haven’t posted to it in an unacceptably long time. He’s right. So here’s a post.
Usually I like to have something to actually post about, but on this occasion I’ve decided that isn’t important. Instead I’ll just tell a Laura anecdote.
Lynn occasionally surprises me with some of her insights about the world around her. A recent occasion was when I read that her favorite online game, Club Penguin, had apparently been acquired by the Walt Disney Company. When I expressed surprise about this, Laura just nodded knowingly and said “Disney takes over everything.”
Well, she’s right; we are talking about a company whose business model has included acquisition of many other companies and properties. But I didn’t realize Laura realized that.
A week or two later, Laura was logging on to Club Penguin and noticed that Disney had added their logo to the main login page. She pointed out this change to me, and was apparently worried that it was a sign of things to come. “I hope they don’t change it,” she said. “Like putting sparkles on everything.” I couldn’t help imagining Tinkerbell swooping through the Club Penguin virtual world, sprinkling fairy dust everywhere. So far, though, we haven’t noticed any changes, but I’m sure Laura will keep me posted.
OK, that wasn’t so hard. I’ll have to see if I can make a habit of this.

That’s the thing about blogging: “have[ing] something to actually post about” and “just tell[ing] a[n] … anecdote.” can be the same thing as often as you let them.
